From award-winning documentary filmmaker Asif Kapadia (SENNA), AMY tells the story of Amy Winehouse, one of the biggest music icons in British history. With a voice oft described as a combination of Billy Holiday, Dinah Washington and Sarah Vaughan, Amy Winehouse was a pop star with soul, and a musical talent whose appeal crossed cultural and demographic boundaries. But while her music made her a star, her chaotic personal life stole headlines. That spotlight, coupled with Winehouse’s troubled relationships and precarious lifestyle, saw her life tragically begin to unravel. She died from alcohol poisoning in July 2011 at the age of 27. Official Selection of the 2015 Cannes Film Festival.
