Nashville-based artist Andy Harding transforms the Leu Art Gallery into a contemplative natural setting, infused with the dynamic energy of a sci-fi film set. Geometric and organic shapes combine within the compositions to explore the dynamic cycle of order and entropy that bears witness to both the emergence of form and its dissolution in the multifaceted processes that make up the natural world.
“Ghost Structures” serve as totems for the elemental forms that emerged from scattered dust clouds spewed forth by exploding stars billions of years ago and continue to this day. The materials, process, and form of the work echo this grand cycle. The exhibited compositions are made from materials with history, such as reclaimed wood and discarded acrylic. Though com-posed of hard edged geometric elements, the forms take on a more organic, fluid nature when viewed as a whole. Many of the structures are composed of a single infinite loop…further embodying the concept that all matter is in a state of transition.
