David Ferguson, Matt Sweeney Birthday Bash
David R. “Fergie” Ferguson began in the 1980’s engineering for “Cowboy” Jack Clement at Clement’s Cowboy Arms Hotel and Recording Spa, in Nashville, Tennessee. Today, Ferguson is best known for his works with Johnny Cash, as engineer for the Grammy winning “American Recording” albums produced by Rick Rubin. Ferguson has also engineered or produced recordings for such artists as legend John Prine, Mac Wiseman, The Del McCoury Band, country music legends Charlie Pride and Eddy Arnold, rock-n-roll band U2, and many others. Along with his success as an engineer, Ferguson is also an accomplished bass player, having spent with Jimmy Martin and the Tennessee Mafia Jug Band, as well playing on Jakob Dylan’s first solo album, “Seeing Things.” Ferguson has also appeared in several movies, appearing as himself in the U2 documentary “Rattle and Hum,” and portraying his mentor Jack Clement in the Jerry Lee Lewis film, “Great Balls of Fire!”
