ComForCare Home Care of Nashville East will host free workshops imparting best practices for caring with those with dementia on Thursday, July 30. ComForCare will host two workshops: the first, beginning with a breakfast at 8 a.m. and program starting at 9 a.m., is intended for health care professionals — attendees can earn three continuing education units — running until 12:00 p.m.; the second, aimed at family caregivers, begins with registration at 5 p.m. with the educational workshop to follow at 6 p.m. and runs until 7:30 p.m. Those interested in attending can register at Dementiawise.com or by calling (615) 338-6148.
ComForCare Home Care of East Nashville owner Mike Sluder is an Air Force veteran who had previously worked for 24 years with Southwest Airlines. A National Certified Alzheimer Educator, Sluder works alongside his daughter Loren Echols née Sluder, ComForCare’s director of operations. When Sluder’s son Michael contracted a rare and devastating form of encephalitis, he came to stay with Mike Sluder and his wife Rosi Sluder. This opened Sluder’s eyes to the need for quality home care services, inspiring him to both open his ComForCare Home Care location and host the upcoming DementiaWise workshops.
