A double bill of shorts, with a classic interview and concert featuring Carl Perkins.

This screening begins with a CBS News Nightwatch interview by Charlie Rose, in which Carl Perkins discusses his career beginnings; recording with Sam Phillips at Sun Studio; writing “Blue Suede Shoes;” and recording the album Class of ’55, a reunion of Sun artists Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Roy Orbison. Then, watch a 1985 performance by Perkins at London’s Limehouse Studios celebrating his milestone recording of “Blue Suede Shoes” thirty years prior. This concert features special guests Rosanne Cash, Eric Clapton, Dave Edmunds, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr and includes the songs “That’s All Right,” and “Whole Lot of Shakin’ Going On.” 80 minutes. Presented in support of Flyin’ Saucers Rock & Roll: The Cosmic Genius of Sam Phillips.
