Fort Nashborough and the Westward Movement
James Robertson was hired by Transylvania Land Company to bring settlement to Middle Tennessee. This is the same company that hired Daniel Boone for the settlement in Kentucky. Both came through the Cumberland Gap, a funnel that 200-300 thousand settlers poured through to establish the first gateway to the west. This was the first steps to establish the westward movement that created the great nation we have today. Sam Compton, President of the Boone Society will speak on the subject and show a 15 minute video of the westward movement.
