The Center for Spiritual Living Nashville will host the “Freedom to Marry Ceremony and Celebration.” July 5 (Sunday) to commemorate the recent U.S. Supreme Court ruling to allow same-sex marriage. The event, which will occur in the church’s sanctuary, will feature live music, recitations of wedding vows by same-sex couples, and a champagne toast. The marriage ceremony is free to couples with an official Tennessee marriage license. It will be officiated by CSLN Reverends Dr. Mitch Johnson, Dr. Tim Stewart and Donna Michael. Future brides and grooms are encouraged to arrive by 1:30 p.m.
“The Center for Spiritual Living Nashville is hosting this wonderful event to give same-sex couples the opportunity to express their love and commitment to each other,” Johnson said. “Our congregation believes in equality for everyone. We stand on the Biblical truth that God is love.” The event is open to the general public. The Center for Spiritual Living Nashville is located at 6705 Charlotte Pike in West Nashville.
