The middle of February cries out for a romantic comedy, and Springhouse Theatre Company, Rutherford County’s favorite live theatre company and one of the premier live theatre experiences in middle Tennessee, is happy to oblige. We’re celebrating the Valentine’s season with the delightful romantic comedy of manners, Jane Austen’s EMMA, adapted for the stage by Springhouse Theatre Company’s resident playwright, Paula K. Parker.
Beautiful, talented and bored, Emma amuses herself by making matches for her acquaintances, and she fancies herself to be quite adept at the practice. But things spin quickly out of control when Emma intervenes in the affairs of the heart of her hapless friend, Harriet. The result is a comedy of errors that eventually uncovers the secret desires of Emma’s own heart.
