Patrick Adams: In Two Worlds

The Red Arrow Gallery welcomes Lexington, KY artist Patrick Adams, opening In Two Worlds in conjunction with the Second Saturday Eastside Art Stumble.

Not a stranger to the Nashville Art Scene, however five years since his last solo exhibtion in our fair city, Patrick Adams returns with a new body of work entitled In Two Worlds.  His aim, to use the landscape as a metaphor for art’s role in unifying the human experience of the physical and spiritual worlds by eliminating the arbitrary position of the horizon and attempting to create a strict equivalency between the land and sky.

Drawing influence from many 19th and 20th century artists including Jean-Baptiste Corot who first brought his attention to considering the landscape as a subject, Adams also credits Richard Diebenkorn for his structure and working with the landscape to take it beyond just being picturesque.

With an oil pallette of warm yet muted colors, Patrick’s new series of diptych’s show the lower half (earth), representing the physical realm, and the upper half (sky, the ‘heavens’) representing the metaphysical, or spiritual realm bringing the two worlds together in a way that makes both worlds more visable.

Patrick Adams was both in Worthington, Minnesota and earned his MFA at the University of Kentucky.   Adams work graces multiple personal and corporate collections from Nashville and across the east to west coast.  This is his first solo show with The Red Arrow Gallery.
