Sons of Zevon Present 1973

Sons Of Zevon began as an informal gathering of musicians in Nashville who paid tribute to the recently deceased Warren Zevon by playing an entire night of his songs at their local pub, The Family Wash. Family Wash owner and singer/guitarist Jamie Rubin, guitarist Reeves Gabrels, and bassist Kevin Hornback organized the evening, and although it was meant to be a one-night-only event, they had so much fun that Neil Young and Tom Petty nights soon followed. One night, some of the band members were talking about the great diversity of radio in the 1970s, and the current objective of the band was born: choose one year from the 1970s, and play a variety of songs that came out that year, from rock, pop, and R&B artists, from big hits to deep tracks.

Over the past several years, the band – comprised of Jamie Rubin, Audley Freed, Kevin Hornback, Jen Gunderman, and Marc Pisapia – has played through the entire decade, year by year. Each year features a different set of songs, singers, and additional instrumentalists, and the chronological arrangement of the shows lets audiences experience the development of music during arguably the most creative and rapidly changing decade in American music.
