Although the Civil War erupted sixteen years his death, General Jackson’s celebrity still resonated with the soldiers who fought the Civil War. Hundreds of soldiers in both blue and gray visited the Hermitage as their armies crossed Middle Tennessee, united in their respect for one of the nation’s greatest military heroes. A costumed interpreter will discuss the Union and Confederate soldiers’ experiences and demonstrate their clothing, food, and weapons.
